Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

My father died when i was 16 and left me his 3 guns. My mother was in charge of the estate till i came of age and asked my grandfather to keep them till i was old enough to retrieve them. He agreed and kept them under lock and key in his garage. Last year without notifying anyone in our family he sold the guns, when i came to retrieve them he stated that he had sold them because he no longer wanted them in the home. Is there anything i can do to receive compensation or make him give me my guns back?

They were not his to sell and most likely it would e determined tst hecwas just holding them... Getting them back from a bona fide purhaser would be nearly impossible. Suing is a possibility for the money that should hsve been set aside. You have to balance that against suing a family member
