Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

what do I need to do to file a lien on a vehicle that was left at a house that I had where the occupants were buying on a lease/option agreement but the sheriff raided the house and the owner of the vehicle won't come and pick it up because he is afraid of being arrested. what type of lien would I file in california to be able to gain the right to sell the vehicle myself or at an auction??

There is no lien available to you under the facts you describe. If you own the property, you can get a towing company to tow it away. They will then have a lien to sell it.

If a vehicle is left on your property, you can have a lien sale, if you have stored the vehicle and not been paid.

The process is outlined at the DMV's website, here: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/howto/htvr7.htm
