Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Fired under very STRANGE circumstances

I was fired from a brokerage firm in a customer service job for bouncing a check in my personal account. This is right before I had been honored as the BEST customer service agent in the entire company.

Anyways, when they fired me I was so upset that I began to cry right in front of them (the managers). After long moments of embarassing silence I asked to be excused and I left the room with an intention of leaving the company grounds. They stopped me from leaving and called the police and had me taken to a mental facility. Note: I was not violent and I did not threaten anyone or myself. I simply was crying and I wanted to leave.

Anyway 1 year later I am still in counseling because of what happen that night and I they (the county) is trying to make me pay (sending collection notices) for the one night that I stayed in the mental facility against my will. There is much more to the story... but can I get them (my old company) to pay the bill for the hospital stay (since they forced me) and maybe even pay for a portion of my counseling?
