Go to this website, of the California Judicial Council

http://www.courts.ca.gov/forms.htm?legaltab

Go to the form section: Pleading Contract, if a contract case.

Or you may wish to go to the section, Pleading General and pull up the General Denial. You can use the General Denial if the Complaint is not verified. You may also wish to search online for affirmative defenses and add those.

There is a standard form for an answer, but in most cases it's not very useful. You may need to draft a response yourself. Better yet, hire a lawyer to represent you. There are many ways you could accidentally torpedo your case, but a lawyer is a lot less likely to do that.

Good luck.
