Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
fraud
Can you be sued by a former employer for fraud for $24? There was a fund raiser that i started at my former employer. I donated $50 when they fired me I didn't feel the need to contribute and took the proceeds which were only $24. But since I donated $50 is that fraud and would they pursue it. I am not unemployeed and have not received unemployment and my husband is on disability. I also have 30 year old special needs son who lives with me.

Re: fraud
It seems unlikely that they would take that approach given the small amount but what has happened to make you believe they may sue you for fraud? Would it be easier at this point to return the $24 and be done with the situation?
Best of luck,
Bryan
Re: fraud
You need to restate the facts as I am confused by what you said. If you withdrew someone else's money, it is thief and not fraud; you should immediately give the money back to that person. If it was your own money, then it is questionable if you did anything illegal. But no employer is going to waste their time on $24 and neither are the police or District Attorney unless political pressure is put on them. If anyone has complained about what you did do, talk to them to resolve their concern.
