Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Last friday i was the defendant in an Unlawful Detainer trial, and I am the former homeowner fighting the new owner (Aurora Loan) for unlawful practices in another suit. At the end, the judge offered me some legal advice, telling me to get an attorney and file a stay in order to remain in the house till the next trial (he had ordered 30days). Is that legal for him to do? What should I do now?

The judge is doing you a favor. There is nothing wrong with a judge giving advice to a party who is in pro per; in fact, judges make suggestions to attorneys all the time.

I recommend that you consult with an attorney immediately and explain to him or her what transpired.

uh, let's see. A judge gives you a break and tells you to do something and you have to ask on the internet what to do? Do what the judge says.

The judge is in your favor on this one. I suggest you have an attorney review your other case. If you stay the unlawful detainer, you may have to post a bond, so if I were you, I would be prepared for that.
