Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
Can a friend who is a notary represent my interest in court? I'm in the military and away from home. I plan on giving my friend a SPOA to sue a person in my behalf for breach of contract. The person owes me $25,000 for a loan, which we wrote a contract but never paid me back any amount. Everything I have is documented and can be proven in court

Only a licensed attorney may represent another person in court.

No. Representing another person in court is practicing law. Only attorneys can do that. Granting someone power of attorney does not give him this authority.

You may assign your friend the debt, then he can collect on it and pay you a share. Contact me directly for assistance.
