Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

ex gave me a gift now he wants it back

My ex boyfriend and I were together for 3 years and lived together for 2.5. He bought me a laptop during that time, He dumped me over the phone and told me to move out that day, and I could take the laptop with me. He and the other girl aren't together anymore and he wanted me to move back, I refused and now he's mad and wants me to give him the laptop back, or else he will file a report with the police. Am I required to give it back even though it was a gift, and it's been 5 months since I moved out? He lives in Oregon and I live in California.

Gifts cannot be undone. However, if he files a police report, he is likely to claim that the laptop wasn't a gift.
