Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Do I have to give my car back?

My Boyfriend at the time bouth me a car last year, and paid for in cash (by check). I am the registered owner, he is the leinholder. I had a car previously and turned my car into his friends carlot, so whatever amount they sold the car for, he would take for buying this new car. Well as luck would have it we are no longer together, and he wants to pick up the car. I know there are no outstanding loans on the car. I have signed nothing saying that I would make monthly car payments to him. What type of protection do I have, can he take the car legally?

The only way he can legally get the car back is to reposses it. Then he has to show what is owed by you ans what arrangements were as to payment. This he cnnot do. However, it is going to be messy for both of you.
