Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Giving derogative information - unsolicited

My former employer (Temporary Agency) called my ex wife, in another state, to tell her I was fired, being evicted from my place of residence and under suspicion for some equipment missing at work.

The facts are, I am a contract engineer. My skills were not fully technical enough for the position and I was terminated after three months.

There's been equipment missing from the place I worked on several occasions. Since I was terminated, additional equipment has been "misplaced".. I was askd of it, and I stated I had no knowledge of it. Period.

On my phone record, at the employer, was retrieved and a technical recruiter got busy and made some phone called to personal friends and divolged personal information.

I'm not being evicted, and I didn't take anything that didn't belong to me...

what should I do?

Is that legal? If not, what is the applicable citing and ramifications. What should I do?
