Harassment and threats by a neighbor.
I have lived in my apt. building for 5 years.I pay my rent on time and I don't bother anyone.My next door neighbor harasses and threatens my children, my company, and me.Since she complained about working on cars in the carport there was a sign posted not to. She was photographed having work done on her car. This was done for my records only.While at work my friend was at my apt. sitting on the stairs when she had a mechanic over to do work on her car. Seeing my friend outside she told the mechanic not to work on her car yet because she might have to shoot somebody next door.My 16 yr. old calling me at work to tell me this.I come home to find she's called the police once again.They of course do nothing to her for the threat she made.When I phone the landlord to let her know what was going on she informs me that she already knew and that she has received a call from the chief of police who is the neighbors uncle and was told to do something about it and that I would be receiving an eviction notice. Do I have any rights?

The best thing to do right now is document everything that has transpired. This way you have something to show to the court that has specific days that your neighbor is harassing you and breaking the rules. If your neighbor is harassing you, you might consider moving. But, if you are served with an eviction notice make sure you file a response with the court stating what has been going on. If you can prove the case to the judge you may be awarded moving expenses. Basically, your landlord is failing to provide a safe and habital premises to you by not doing anything to stop your neighbor. This way you can move somewhere else and get your moving expenses paid. I would also recommend getting a copy of any police reports that were made when you called the police. Even if they didn't come to your residence there will be a record of the phone call. This will further back up your claim of harassment.
