Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

My Husband & I belong to a non-profit society. They took donations to open a heritage center. We donated $500.00 US dollars for this Heritage Center. We have since been summarily informed that our help was no longer welcome. Do we have any legal right to get this $500.00 back from this society? There is no heritage center & there isn't one in the plannings for the foreseeable future. It has been brought to our attention that the money may have been used for something else but have no real way of proving that aspect. What are my options of any?

Thank You

If they've done it to you, they've probably done it to others. You might think about making a report to the DA or police department about their conduct, and also determine whether it should maintain a nonprofit status.
