Any information would help
I have a friend who called the honesty number to report that someone was stealing. She initally told her supervisor whom she thought would keep her name anonomous. In the end they tried to press charges against her, and the supervisor told the others involved in the theft that she called the honesty hotline. What should she do because she had nothing to do with the theft?

She should start putting things in writing -- she really should be talking to an attorney, because if the store is trying to fire her, she needs to protect herself now. Feel free to send more info to my private email below.

To clarify what Mr. Knisbacher recommends, everything she puts in writing should be kept at home. Some employers have a habit of going through people's desks and taking things. The same holds true with use of the computer. She should make sure that she has no personal stuff on her office computer and in her company e-mail box. She can always take truly personal stuff home and sanitize her computer and network space as best as possible.
