law suit for loss of property

A storage unit caretaker turned my property over to police dept. who siezed it with out a warrant the care taker cut my lock,however the rent was paid and not over due do i have a case aginst the carertaker for not securing my property?

You may have a cause of action against the storage facility. However, before suing discuss the matter with an attorney. The police usually only take property that falls into one of two categories. First contraband, drugs etc. Second property that has been reported as stolen. In either case you may not want to claim the property by suing the storage facility.
