Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Length of time until property is legally mine.

Around late September or early October of 2003, the drummer for my band was sent to military school. Since then his drum set has been at my house taking up space in my garage. I call his family constantly and i've talked to him as well since he is home for the holidays. They always agree to pick them up the next day but never show up. Our new drummer has offered to buy them and I really want to get rid of them.

The question is: How long until the drum set is legally mine and I can sell it?

It will never become your property unless the owner transfer the property to you.
