Re: limited civil
Did you ever hear the expressions, you can't get blood from a stone or a turnip, and a judgment is only a piece of paper? Both are quite true. A judgment must be enforced, that is the judgment creditor must execute against some asset of the judgment debtor. If there are no assets, the judgment debtor is left with just the piece of paper which is the judgment. You should know that the judgment will be over your head for ten years, and may be renewed thereafter, if the judgment debtor requests it.
Re: limited civil
The plaintiff might try to levy against all monies in the defendant's bank account -- if any. A judgment is good for 10 years in CA, and may be renewed for another 10 years before the first 10 years expires. In the meantime, it accumulates interest. If the defendant should ever get a job, the plaintiff might try to attach wages, as well.
