Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
A local college sent my college transcripts to the wrong person and they have my social security number on them. The person they sent them to never returned them and the college is dragging their feet to force their return. I am concerned my social security number could be compromised at anytime. Do I have recourse to collect against possible future damage and for the cost to maintain identity theft insurance indefinitely.

I am wondering why your college transcripts have your SSN on them at all. I know many colleges use SSNs as student ID numbers, but they should be blacked out on transcripts. Are you SURE the copy that goes out to third parties has the SSN on it? If so, you need to hire an attorney right away.
