Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Lost Suit Pants at Dry Cleaners

The dry cleaners lost my suit pants. The suit cost $700. The owner only wants to pay for pants, but there is no way to replace the pants b/c none match with the coat. Should i file small claims or a civil action? This has caused me a lot of mental anguish- I specifically told them that it was expensive when I dropped it off!

Re: Lost Suit Pants at Dry Cleaners

This is a small claims case. Don't expect to get damages for "mental anguish" over something like this. The fact that you told the cleaner the suit was expensive may help you win the cost of the suit, but it won't get you anything for emotional distress.
