Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
Magazine scam/fraud
Recently one of those mail-order magazine scams called my fiancee, trying to get her to buy a subscription. She started to go through the steps but then she just hung up. Needless to say we're now being charged for magazines, and after calling for a refund and listening to the voice recording of the verification steps, it seems the operator went through the audio verification steps herself, impersonating my wife. Isn't this fraud, and do we have any legal recourse? I just hope they don't have her SSN, since we can't really cancel that

Re: Magazine scam/fraud
Contact local law enforcement this would appear to be fraud that is a violation of state law and probably federal law regarding fraud over telephone lines.
