Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

How can I get the money that I loaned

Hi:

I had loaned a person , supposedly a friend, some money less than $3000. there is no promisary note or any write reciept. He borrowed money for last one year and each time told me that he would repay when he makes some money. As a friend I just loaned him. But now He left the country for good. I was hoping he would give me the money before he left. I don't know when he would be back. do I have any options in legality to get a court order for him to repay me back when he comes back?

You can sue in small claims court, and can serve an adult at his residence address in CA if he still maintains an address -- or in the other country through a tedious means. Then, you can attempt to levy against an American bank account, once you get a judgment.

If he left the country for good, it would be difficult to serve him here. Even if you serve him where he lives, how will you collect? Sorry, but best to forget it.
