Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
money reimbursment????
I was asked to be a brides maid in an friends wedding. she had no money for a bridal shower so I offered to fund the party as a gift as a brides maid. the two days before the she told me she didnt want me in the wedding out of the blue. I feel she used me for money because she had none. Can I sue for reimbursment???

For your argument to make sense, the bride would have to assume that you would offer to fund her bridal shower before naming you a bridesmaid. Based on the facts you have presented, this doesn't seem reasonable. Instead, it seems you gave a gift, and I'm sure the bride could, in court, come up with some other reason, real or imagined, that was the 'real' reason she decided not to have you in the wedding.

I would. Small claims court for up to $7500.

I wish I could agree with Mr. Stone, but I can't. You gave the bride a gift and gifts can't be turned into obligations after the fact. Sorry I can't be more encouraging.

I think I would tend to agree with Mr. HOffman. You can't turn a gift into a loan. I think Judge Judy would agree. :)
