Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Neighbor's Van Too Close On Driveway

I share a double driveway with our next door neighbor. At times, he parks his van right at the junction where his driveway branches out to the back of his house and vice versa. I told him the other day, that when he parks it there, it makes it hard for me to get our cars out as there's no margin for error. I've asked him to park it further back so that I have a chance to straighten out our car(s) before I get to where his van is parked.

If this neighbor continues parking his van in the place where I've asked him not to, am I liable if I make a mistake and clip his van?

If your neighbor is parking solely on his property, there's not much you can do except maybe widen yours a bit. Perhaps a nice letter indicating a "cc:" to a lawyer would do the trick. Neighbor issues are always pretty tricky because you don't want to be at war with the person next door.
