Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Noise

I am interested in noise as a nusiance after 10:00 pm. Does a television being left on all night at a normal volume constitute excessive noise? How does volume get measured to be determined as excessive?

Re: Noise

What I have been told by police officers is a disturbance of the peace is considered any noise that can be heard more than 100 yards from the source prior to 10 p.m. and more than 50 yards from the source after 10 p.m. It is basically a judgment call the police have to make when called to investigate.
