order for appearance and examination
if the appearance is required in a city over 60 miles away from home, can you request a change of venue to somewhere closer to defendants home residence?

You can make the request, but the 60-mile distance is not sufficient reason for the court to grant it. You will have to show that making the trip would be a particular harship on you or that there is some other reason why you should not have to go so far even though others usually would.

That's not considered far. Usually when you are out of the county and when the mileage exceeds 75 miles (in some situations) or 150 miles (in other situations) does the distance become too far in the eyes of the law.
