Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Personal belongings

My wife put my uncle's items into storage for him with the verbal agreement that she would put whatever she could fit into storage and give the rest to goodwill. we put his things into storage. It was verbally agreed that his personal belongings would go with us when i was transfered to a different duty station. This all happened almost three years ago. He wrote his first written letter for his goods back, but on the list are things that i have never had, can he take me to court and try to sue me for these items, or is there a time limit to take action?

Re: Personal belongings

The basic statute of limitations would be 3 years from the date of his discovery of lost property. Of course, he'd have to prove what items were consigned to you, and what value they have/had.
