what personal property could be take in a judgment

I recently obtained a judgment against me at LA SUP COURT. I would like to know what exactly personal or home property like furniture could be seized by plaintiff. Thanks.

Re: what personal property could be take in a judgment

Typically, a judgment creditor will try to attach valuable assets -- such as bank accounts, wages, equity in automobiles, and real property. They typically will not care about other stuff in your dresser drawers.

They will notice a debtor's examination, where you will be summoned to court to answer questions about your assets. If you bring valuable assets with you -- such as money, car keys, a valuable watch, etc. -- they could obtain an order to take them from you right there.

Depending on the size of the judgment and your other financial circumstances, you might investigate whether a Chapter 7 bankruptcy might be appropriate.
