Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

postal monopoly on first class mail question.

Hello,

I dont know if I filed under the correct area of law but here goes. I

am curious as to the legalaties in the state of california of someone

offering a business service that mailed letters for other people.

ie

Person A contacts business and dictates a letter.

Business prints letter, places letter in envelope, stamps letter, puts

person A's return address on the letter then mails the letter for

person A.

Is this legal? My concerns off the top of my head are that the

USPS has a legal monopoly on first class mail and I would

somehow be breaking a law by doing this.

Thanks for the help in advance,

Jacob

Doesn't look like a problem, you are just acting like an outside seretary or word processor.

I don't see a legal problem here. The postal service doesn't really have a monopoly, as demonstrated by the existence of FedEx, UPS and other such services. Besides, even if the postal service did have a monopoly, you plan to use its services and pay for postage, so the service would have nothing to complain about.

If you use the U. S. Post office, then there is nothing illegal.
