Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Preparing for a non-jury trial

I am defending myself against an insurance company for an auto accident which I feel was not my fault. I am suppose to be going to a non-jury trial at the end of May 2009. What do I need to do? How do I get discovery from the other lawyer? What forms do I need?

Re: Preparing for a non-jury trial

You need to hire an attorney.

If you had insurance, you should turn this over to your insurance company. If you did not, you are looking at a lot of trouble.

Re: Preparing for a non-jury trial

You should have started conducting discovery long ago. Waiting until two months before trial before asking even the most basic questions was extremely unwise.

Discovery and preparing for trial are complex processes. You can find entire multi-volume treatises about each in your local law library, though you will need to know a lot about the law first in order to understand them.

Get a lawyer ASAP and hope that he can get you more time.
