Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

I am in the process of answering Interrogatories, Req for Adm, and Req for Docs from a debt collector attorney (I'm denying everything). I noticed that the case numbers are incorrect on two out of the 3 Docs. Can I only provide answers to the the Docs with the correct case numbers (other two missing a digit). Am I obligated to answer if the case number is incorrect?

If you think you have a valid defense to a debt collection lawsuit, you should be using an attorney, since if you win the case they will pay your attorney fees. I would ignore any documents with the incorrect case number. Let them file a motion to compel.

There is no legal authority that says placement of an incorrect case number is grounds to refuse to answer an interrogatory. You are better off responding fully to the interrogatory, and pointing out the fact that the incorrect case number was listed in your response.
