Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
What are the pros and cons of retaining (on a contingency-basis) a sole-practitioner Medical Malpractice Lawyer versus hiring a Medical Malpractice Law Firm/Corporation (that has 20-30 lawyers, associates, etc.)? ...Of course the law firm has more resources, but is it always better to hire a firm, or a sole-practitioner, for a Med Mal case?

The question does not have an easy answer. First, does the case require the resources of a larger firm? Will there be costs to advance that a solo practitioner is not capable of financing? If so, the choice is obvious.
The problem with larger firms is that you risk being treated as a client of the firm, and not the lawyer. As such, your case may be passed around the office as a function of office needs. You may not develop the personal relationship with the attorney that you would like to have.
