Costs are a component of damages in a lawsuit. A motion to tax costs is a motion asking the court to approve a lower total than the other side requested. It's purpose is to lower the amount of the judgment to be entered.

Assuming that you were awarded your experts' fees/costs, the motion to tax costs asks the court to examine those claimed costs and to disallow any charges that are unreasonable, excessive, or not statutorily permitted.
