Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
received a payment request for a judgment I know nothing about

You need to investigate this. This may be a fraud, or it may not.
I would start by going to the website for the court that issued the judgment (it should be somewhere on the paper you received) and see if you can find anything out about the case. Courts have various amounts of information about cases on their sites, so the site may not be helpful. If the website is insufficient, you have to contact the court directly and see how you can get access to the court file.
If you think this case is real, then you should contact an attorney for a short consultation and map out a plan of attack. If this is truly the first you knew about the case, then you may be able to have the judgment set aside and declared void.
You can find an attorney here on LawGuru, contact your local bar association, or a get a referral from a friend or family member.
