What is the regulation for sex with a minor?

I would like to find out what is the law for having sex with a minor? What should the parent do to prevent any liability?

An adult having sex with a minor is committing a serious felony known as statutory rape, which is punishable by substantial prison time (I don't know how long off hand) and by a requirement for registration as a sex offender.

I don't understand your concern about parental liability. If you are worried that an adult is having sex with your minor child but you are not being derelict in your duties as a parent, I don't see how you could be held liable. Of the other hand, if you encourage these activities, you could be prosecuted. Generally, if you are being a reasonable parent there is no need to fear legal action against you.

On the other hand, if you are the parent and are the one having sex with your child, you are looking at an extraordinarily unpleasant prison experience.
