none responsive lawyer

A lawyer friend offered to represent me in a legal matter for free. i now want to handle the matter on my own and contact their lawyers myself. They wont respond and my lawyer is not telling them he no longer represents me

If it's a court proceeding, have the attorney sign a substitution of attorney. After you sign it, file it with the court and send a copy to each other lawyer involved.

If there is no lawsuit pending, send whatever contact letter you wish to other counsel, explain that the friend no longer represents you, and mark the letter with a cc: to your former attorney.
