Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
Possible Scam
My parents dog got out the front door and went onto the neighbors lawn - which is a consensual location for the dogs to be there. A person outside the cul-de-sac was walking by on the main street and my parents dog barked at the lady. He never touched, got close to, or anything except bark while wagging his tail. The dog was immediately escorted back inside the home. The lady spoke English and said she had chest pains. So the neighborhood whom were out called 911. Then the lady all of the sudden spoke only Spanish. The paramedics and ambulance arrived. They checked her over and they said nothing was wrong with her. The paramedics even did a EKG on her and she was fine. The neighbor who is a high profile supervising nurse at a local hospital said she was fine. The lady demanded to be taken to the hospital even though every medical professional said she was fine. My parents agreed to pay the medical expenses but now she wants extra money for trauma. The police were never called about the dog. What do we do with this lady?
She is coming over to the house with her 12 yr old daughter to ''translate'' for her. Should my parents now not pay anything and just hire a lawyer because she is trying to scam them.
