The Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA) operates toll roads within Orange County, for example the toll lanes of SR-91; and SR-241. Under a law that was passed for the benefit of the special-interest shareholders of the toll roads, OCTA doesn't have to sue you for toll evasion, all they have to do is submit the bill to the court, they automatically get a judgment, and there is no right to a trial or what one would ordinarily think of as due process of law. In my opinion the system is unconstitutional and should be challenged in the federal courts. Too bad you don't have money to hire an attorney. Evidently you don't have money to pay the tolls either, so you should not have been driving on the toll roads. .Maybe someday you'll be able to find the money for a bankruptcy attorney. If you were to challenge the law in federal court and win, you would be entitled to have your attorney fees reimbursed at the end of the case; so maybe you can persuade some attorney (not me) to wager his or her labor on the possibility of recovering attorney fees at the end of the case.
