Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Hello. Served with an Order to Appear for Examination and would like to file for an extension. Is this possible?

If not, what can I expect by not appearing? Likelihood of actually being arrested for failure to appear?

You can't "file" for an extension. You need to contact the attorney for the judgment creditor and have them agree to continue the examination to a date that is mutually agreeable to.

If you don't appear, the court can issue a warrant for your arrest. In some cases, however, I have seen the matter continued with a warning for you to appear at the continued hearing, but I would not rely on this.
