Was sexually abused by Jr. High Vice Principal almost 20 years ago-can I sue?
When I was 13-14 years old in Jr. High School, I was sexually abused by the Vice-Principal, who also happened to be a friend of my parents. I never told anyone at the time, because I was always in trouble and was often sent to his office for ''discipline'' and I knew nobody would believe me anyway. Over the years I have heard of this man being arrested and tried for similar abuses. I once called the District Attorney in the case just to let her know how long it he had been doing such things. I was never asked to testify. I heard he was stripped of his teaching credentials (he was a high school teacher by that time), but I don't even know if he is still alive. I'd forgotten (or had buried it in my subconscience) about the abuse and shame for many years, but it has suddenly been on my mind constantly, and causes me problems. Can I sue either him or his survivors, or the school district? The abuse involved him physically forcing me to perform oral sex on him in his office at the school, his fondling me under my clothes, and digital penetration. What can I do at this point? These memories are literally driving me nuts? Please help! Thank you!

The statute of limitation has expired, if you're in California. The abuse should have been reported to the school district as well, under code sections governing governmental immunities.

Having said the above, you might still have a case, provided the school district's knowledge, culpability and failure to protect.
