Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

If I signed a contract with a private party to repay a loan of $10000 and I have never made payment on this loan and they have never asked me to make a payment how long is the statute of limitations on them persueing something in court in California? The loan had no interest and the payments should have started immediately. I have been unable to make one payment since 2008. How long before I can forget about this loan legally. I know I have a moral obligation. I am losing sleep over this.

There is a four year statute of limitations on written contracts in California.

I agree with Mr. Shers. There is a four year statute for obligations and contracts based on a writing. The statute begins to run when the contract is breached, not when it is entered into.
