Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

My sister took me to court suing for her 1/3 interest in in my late mothers property. On September 9,a summary judgement was granted in her favor and a new court date was set for December 16 to assign referees to represent all parties.

Today I received a letter form the court which states:Entire action dismissed without prejudice. What does this mean. How could the case be dismissed when the summary judgement was against me?

Cases can get dismissed for a variety of reasons. Assuming there was only an "order granting summary judgment" and not a "judgment" prior to the dismissal, the case is over, and you won! If this is the case, be sure and file and serve a Memorandum of Costs within 15 days of the dismissal so that you can recover any filing fees you paid, and possibly other court costs if there were any.

Probably should go to the Court and review the file and see if you can figure out what happened.

Your chronology does not make sense. I suggest viewing the court file and double checking whether you lost.
