Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

We are a small business in Solano Cty and have a customer who hasn't paid us over in San Mateo Cty. Do we have to sue him and go to court in San mateo cty or can we sue in Solano cty

It depends. Generally, a lawsuit for breach of contract (which is what this probably is) must be brought either in the county where the defendant lives, or where the contract was to be performed.
