Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
Small claims
I was employed in sales in the state
of California and my employer is in
the state of Pennsylvania. They have
refused to pay me for a charge on my
company car they said they would. I
would like to take them to small
claims court to retain my monies.
Can I file in California if this was the
state of my employ?

Re: Small claims
Yes, but the problem will be collecting. Once (and if) you get a judgment, then you will have to get an attorney in PA to domesticate the judgment and collect, unless the employer has assets (a bank account, for example) in CA. Since it's a small claims case, though, you won't be out much money filing it in CA versus the cost of air fare to try the case in snowy PA.
