Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
small claims judgement
I won a judgement in small claims court re: an illegal eviction and landlords refusal to surrender property and the missing items when property was returned. the issue of illegal eviction was not adressed at all, becaouse the location was the a residential hotel,as defined in civivl code I should have had tenants rights. these were not enforced.NOne of the fines for refusing to surrender property were imposed either. What can I do. Also the judgement does not itemize. I asked for 5,000 and only received
2584 can I get an explanatin of how the judge came to this amount?

Re: small claims judgement
You picked the forum, which was the Small Claims Court. So you live by the rules of that forum. The judge isn't going to answer your questions as to why he/she did what. You do not have the right to appeal. However, the landlord does. If the landlord appeals. You'll have another judge with more experience and he/she may explain the decision.
