The "statute of limiation" refers to the time during which a lawsuit may be brought, or a criminal charge may be brought, not when you can be "billed." The statute depends upon the theory the creditor proceeds under. The statute of limitation for criminal offenses are different than those for civil actions.

You should take whatever "bill" you received to an attorney in your area for their review. After the attorney reviews the "bill" and discusses the matter with you, the attorney will be in a much better position to advise you as to your rights and obligations.
