Re: What is Status Conference ?
In the Status conference the court (judge) tries to find out the status of the case (normally requires both attorneys to attend. But not in all counties i.e. in one only the plaintiff has to attend. And if it is time to assign a trial date. The exact rules are on the court's web site (under Local Rules), and any (and there probably are) forms that need to be completed by the parties will be mentioned there and the forms (usually they are a local form) ar available on the court's web site. Normally the plaintiff is responsible to get the form started and then send it (probably more than one page) to the defendant to work out any difference in opinion on the status of the case (discovery, motions, etc).
Re: What is Status Conference ?
It is essentially a housekeeping task which the courts do in order to push the cases through. Some departments will require both parties to submit a Status Conference Questionnaire to the department 5 days prior. So, make sure that you read the notice carefully or if you did not receive a notice call the clerk of that department.
Good Luck.
