Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

While staying at a Reno Hotel/Casino, the front desk gave my ex-wife my room number and a key to enter my room. She came in and trashed the room and hit me with my shoes. I called security and they removed her and took a report and admitted that the front desk dropped the ball. I had already specifically told the front desk not to give out any info that I was even staying there. I believe that they violated my privacy and put me in harms way. Do I have legal recourse against the hotel.

Under California law you would have a cause of action for negligence if you can show they could have reasonably expected injury to you, which is doubtful. You could claim a breach of your right to privacy, but are the damages reasonably foreseeable?

You should demand that the hotel pay for all the room damages and perhaps $1,000 to compensate you for your pain and suffering and emotional distress. You could sue in Small Claims Court. You should re-post to get a Nevada lawyer's responses.
