Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Stolen Item

If my child let a boy at her highschool use her Ipod touch and he got it stolen, if he or his parents won't pay for a new one, can we sue them?

Re: Stolen Item

You can sue anyone for anything. Whether you'll win is fact-driven. If the youngster was negligent in leaving it around, then he and his parents might be liable. If it was stolen from a safe place -- i.e. his backpack, locker, etc., you might not win. See if you can work something out with his parents.
