Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
Can I stop harrasment through the mail instigated by an unsolicited coroner's re
About 3-1/2 years ago my husband commited suicide. In his suicide note, addressed to me, he blamed me for him taking his own life. The coroner sent a copy of this note, unsolicited, to my former sister-in-law after she requested a copy of the death certificate. Since then she has been harassing me through the mail, at first with envelopes easily identified as from her (so I had someone else including my psychiatrist read them) and then by cleaverly disguised post cards, etc. that continue to catch me off guard. Do I have any recourse against her and/or the coroner?

You may want to write a letter to your sister-in-law demanding that she cease and desist the harassing mail. If that does not work, you may want to consider filing for a restraining order against her. They cost about $200 to file with the court, and an attorney can draw one up for you. I would be happy to discuss the matter with you if you are interested. You can contact my office for a free, no obligation consultation. My toll free phone number is 877-546-9918, or you can email me at [email protected]. I hope I have given you some hope of stopping this cruel correspondence.
Sincerely,
John Hayes, Esq.

I dont know about the coroner but you can certainly get a court order against the crazy sister.
