How do I stop a wage garnishment before it begins taking money from my check?

One way is to no longer have wages! If it's a money judgment for a credit card or other similar obligation, you might be able to discharge it in a bankruptcy. Finally, if your income supports it, you could file an application with the court where the judgment was issued to lower the amount that's about to be taken because of the hardship it would present.
