What happens if someone is trying to subpoena me and they cannot find me to serve the papers?

They can a) lie and say they served you; b) hire a private detective; c) give up and go home.
If the person trying to serve you has unlimited resources, for example they are a government agency or very wealthy, assume they eventually will succeed.
